Synthesis of textures and bump maps of tiled surfaces – Part I

First of a three-part series about generating texture and bump maps representing tiled surfaces for use in rendering of computer generated imagery. The method is based on real-life tile layouts coupled with color generation using  various noise functions. The article was written in the form of a tutorial, where the usage of each parameter is described along with the generated texture maps and renderings.
